The Mt Burdett Foundation had just become ready to commence issuing funds when COVID-19 began to spread through Australia and widespread government restrictions came into place.
Local organisation Esperance Care Services played a critical role at this time of need as a provider of emergency relief assistance to some of the most vulnerable people in the town, with families coming forward for assistance who had never previously sought support.
The COVID-19 lockdown forced the closure of the Esperance Care Services thrift shop, interrupting the Service's income stream and causing a great deal of uncertainty. The Mt Burdett Foundation was able to step forward to provide funding to secure operations for a two month period.
