Balmy Nights Festival

Mt Burdett Foundation is proud to support the growth and capacity building of arts in the Esperance Region through a three-year grant arrangement with the Kyza Presents Balmy Nights Festival.

The goal of Balmy Nights is to celebrate women and genderqueer artists within the music industry, and to deliver an iconic event that becomes synonymous with Esperance’s and the WA live music scene.

Balmy Nights Festival enters its fourth year in 2021, with this year marking a turning point in the evolution of Balmy Nights as the Mt Burdett Foundation comes on board to support ongoing strategic development. The Foundation's funding will focus upon human capacity building, community engagement and emerging artistic development within the event over a three year period. In 2021, this includes the establishment of a professional development workshop hosted by Nannup Music Festival Director Phaedra Watts and a song writing workshop delivered by headline act Grace Barbe.

The professional development workshop will see Phaedra attend Balmy Nights and deliver a free session the following day focussed on strategic event management, with consideration given to the ongoing development of Balmy Nights. Barbe's song writing workshop will see the 2020 Aria Nominee deliver a free contemporary music workshop with the goal being the ongoing support of Esperance/Regional emerging artists. This workshop is made possible through support from WAM, Act Belong Commit and the Mt Burdett Foundation.

2021 features a brilliant line-up of artists headlined by Grace Barbe and joined by emerging Esperance musicians Bec Schutz, Mary Leske and Darcie Haven, also well-established WA acts Oceanique, Joan and The Giants and Perth electro pop duo Priscilla.

Balmy Nights sets a vibrant atmosphere at the Cannery Arts Centre grounds with the stage situated within its stunning round garden. Mini food court, popup cocktail bar, local craft beers (Lucky Bay Brewery) and an eclectic space lighting and decoration design further develop the events unique flavour. Creative direction is driven through partnership with local businesses, Esperance Tide, Brodeine and Deine, Love Childs, and Luxe Floral and Home Co, Luxe being our primary local sponsor for 2021.

Balmy Nights is brought to you by Kyza Presents, The Cannery Arts Centre, Esperance Tide, Brodeine and Deine, Love Childs, Regional Arts WA and The Shire of Esperance. The event would not exist without local sponsorship, with the organisers giving thanks to key local sponsor Luxe Floral and Home Co, and also to Tim Green Construction and the Lillypad Esperance.
